HEY THERE!

My name is Ashley.

Welcome to my online journal and creative outlet. Grab a cup of tea, browse the archives and stay awhile!

I love weeks like last week.
I wore these prayer bracelets all week. The Mexico bracelet was for two of my dear friends who were leading a high school group to Chiapas, Mexico (where I served the summer before my senior year of high school). The Audacious bracelet was for the student ministry I serve with who were attending Student Life Camp at Angelo State.
Because I was teaching my second science camp of the summer, I was unable to attend youth camp as a counselor this year (first time in YEARS). At first I was extremely bummed out, wondering how I would be able to invest in our student ministry from so far away? But the Lord revealed to me that we had a few things to sort out alone this week. One of these happened to be my prayer life. Because I wasn’t able to love on girls in our ministry in person I had to rely heavily on prayer. I was reminded that prayer is a HUGE part of our ministry, and unfortunately one I quickly dismiss. After a week spent on my knees, I have seen the power of prayer (in the non-cheesy way) and am so hooked.
I was, however, blessed enough to be able to drive down to visit my campers Thursday afternoon. I needed this. It was so refreshing to see students not only falling more in love with the Lord but also seeing the value of community within our student ministry. Excited to see how the Lord is going to continue to use this ministry in the next year, for sure.
This week also marked the 23rd birthday of one of my very best friends. It was also the very first time I was able to actually see this gal on her official birthday, ever. Glad to be able to squeeze in breakfast this year!
